Bollywood nowadays is greatly appreciating and working upon the biopics of several unsung heroes. We saw some amazing biopics in the previous years and this year again is loaded with some great biopics, with a number of them based on cricketers. Earlier this year we saw “Azhar” which revolved around the life of Mohammad Azharuddin and released this May 13.
Then we have Sushant Singh Rajput starrer “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story” which will hit the theatres this September. And above these all is the much awaited movie“Sachin: A Million Dreams” which is in the making and would be released later this year.
Here is all you need to know about this biopic:
Sachin: A Billion Dreams is an upcoming Indian biographical film directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka, based on the life of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. A Mumbai-based production company 200 Not Out will be making the film. The company has over 150 advertisements and short films to its credit and has bagged the rights to make the film from World Sports Group (WSG).
The biggest highlight of this movie is that Sachin Tendulkar himself would be a part of his biopic! He would be portraying his own character. On the other hand Arjun Tendulkar would play younger tendulkar.
What its About?
The film will capture his cricket and personal life in great detail and the highest run-scorer in the history of the game will also chip in with his inputs for the film which will be released in 200 theatres across the world.
What’s more to it?
Apart from following the phenomenal rise of Sachin, the film will also reveal a few never-seen-before aspects of his life. Incidentally, the makers wanted to capture the glorious years of the Indian legend for the next generation. However, they were not interested in making a biopic, so they zeroed in on the idea of making a feature film after getting Sachin’s consent.
The first poster of the film was released on 11 April 2016 through a tweet by Sachin Tendulkar which became viral. Shah Rukh Khan replied to the tweet by saying that he wants to watch this film. Khan tweeted: “This one I have to watch. Show me soon my friend.” The poster was also tweeted by Virender Sehwag. On 14 April 2016, the teaser of the film was unveiled on YouTube.
So far four posters of the film have been released, each showing a different avatar of Sachin Tendulkar.
“Cricket is a religion in India and Sachin Tendulkar is the God of cricket”. I am super excited for this one, are you?
